Dr. Vinod T. Gore is one of India's most senior and accomplished surgical oncologists — with nearly three decades of clinical practice in complex cancer surgery. He is the founding Department Head of Surgical Oncology at Sahyadri Manipal Hospitals, Pune, a position he has held since establishing the department from its inception in 2009.
Trained for five years at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai — India's premier cancer centre — across breast oncology, head & neck oncology, thoracic oncology, gastrointestinal oncology, gynaecological oncology, uro-oncology, reconstructive oncology, and minimally invasive cancer surgery, Dr. Gore brings a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to every operation he performs. This training was complemented by three years in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Sassoon General Hospital — expertise that directly informs his oncoplastic and reconstructive cancer surgery practice today.
Dr. Gore holds the FARIS credential from the University of Edinburgh — Fellowship in Advanced Robotic & Innovative Surgery — one of the most prestigious international robotic surgery qualifications, held by very few Indian surgeons. His hospital is an ARIS-designated Centre of Excellence for robotic surgery, where he serves as an official Training Mentor guiding the next generation of robotic cancer surgeons.
A pioneer in his field, Dr. Gore performed the first Electrochemotherapy (ECT) procedure in Asia in 2013 at Sahyadri Hospital, Deccan, Pune — and played a key role in developing India's first indigenous ECT machine, making this advanced treatment accessible across the country. He is equally distinguished as a teacher — Assistant Professor of Surgery at Bharati Vidyapeeth since 2008 and a recognised DNB Guide — and as a public health advocate, serving as Patron of the Voice of Tobacco Victims (VoTV) campaign for over two decades.
